St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church + + Salina, Kansas + Little Lions Preschool

This is us. In Christ.

Who we are

Our tagline - "Saved by the Cross, Standing on the Word, Serving to the Glory of God" - sums it up pretty well:

  • We are Saved by the Cross. Jesus is "the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but for the sins of the whole world" (1 John 2:2). Our sinfulness separates us from God, but God's Son has taken away our sins and reconciled us to God. "Whoever believes in him has eternal life" (John 3:36). This is God's gospel, which means "good news"!

      • We are Standing on the Word. "From infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:15-17). The Bible shows us Jesus the Savior and has led us to trust in him for the free gift of salvation. That same Word of God continues to be the place where we go daily and weekly to learn from God all the ways He saved us - and to receive from him the power to do what pleases Him!

          • We are Serving to the Glory of God. "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). As we go about our Christian lives and work together for God's kingdom, we are NOT working to save our own souls. Jesus did that for us! We do NOT try to make ourselves feel good through charity work either. Jesus frees us from self-righteous attitudes that breed holier-than-thou church members. We are NOT in the business of people-pleasing just to be popular. "We love because he first loved us" (1 John 4:19). We strive simply to give thanks to our Savior by doing what he commands - to love him above all things and humbly serving our neighbors' needs.

What you can expect

Our mission at St. Mark is "to serve all people in God's world with the gospel of Jesus Christ on the basis of the Holy Scriptures (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15)." You can hold us to that pledge!

When you visit St. Mark, you can expect a warm welcome, a no-pressure atmosphere, non-judgmental friends, a helping hand, and straight talk from God's Word. That last point is the true mission of the Church and the best thing anyone can offer you. Here you will come to know the true God who is your eternal Savior and your loving Lord!

What's more...

Fuller statements of our faith, based on Scripture, can be found through the links below. We encourage you to study them in your search for the Truth, with the prayer that we may together become "fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone" (Ephesians 2:19-20).
